Company Boilerplate
Creating Design Clarity is a New Zealand-based home design education company founded by architect and interior designer Kristina Cope. Built on independently commissioned research showing that 75.4% of homemakers are dissatisfied with their finished renovation, CDC's Austin Home Method® helps homemakers understand their own design personality before starting any home project - DIY or professionally led.
Creating Design Clarity is a New Zealand-based home design education company founded by Kristina Cope, a qualified architect and interior designer with 35 years of experience. The company is built on independently commissioned research by Endless Definition Research (lead researcher Kalym Lipsey, PhD) across more than 1,200 New Zealand homemakers, showing that 75.4% of people are dissatisfied with their finished renovation and that up to 29.6% of the average renovation budget is lost to rework - not because of poor workmanship or blown budgets, but because most homemakers begin a project without first understanding their own design personality.
CDC's proprietary Austin Home Method® - named for Cope's own family, architect father John Austin and fashion designer mother Kay Austin - combines architectural investigative practice with interior design's sensory and visual training to help homemakers document a Fearless Home Project Workboard® and Ultimate Design Brief before engaging any design professional, or before starting a DIY project. The seasonal colour component of the method is grounded in the peer-reviewed Colour Affects System developed by British colour scientist Dr Angela Wright. CDC has been featured in Stuff, the New Zealand Herald, and on TVNZ's 1News, and has partnered with Massey University.

Quotable
"The problem was never taste, or budget, or workmanship. It's sequencing. Almost everyone starts a renovation by asking what it should look like, when the only question that actually matters is what it needs to feel like - and by the time anyone asks that second question, the tradesperson is already on site." — Kristina Cope, Founder, Creating Design Clarity
"Everyone already has a design style. They simply haven't slowed down enough to see it yet." — Kristina Cope, Founder, Creating Design Clarity
"A style label describes the surface. It's the finish coat. Your design personality is the framing underneath it - and it's the part almost nobody ever gets asked about before a renovation begins." — Kristina Cope, Founder, Creating Design Clarity
